Linda Parnell, Wyandotte, gives her great granddaughter Ellie Matthews a kiss on Monday while visiting her at the Mercy Birthing Center. The baby was born to Cody and Shelby Matthews, pictured, on Jan. 2 at 8:42 a.m., the first baby born at Joplin Mercy Hospital. The parents received a gift bag including a car seat from the hospital.
